Around San Francisco Bay, Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Mateo and Santa Clara sit shoulder to shoulder, while Kern, Imperial, Modoc and Trinity lie far from the coast and from each other. Each game asks 50 of the 58 counties, with two minutes for the whole round and three attempts per question. Each wrong attempt costs points, and the time left at the end earns a bonus. Since only a part of the counties come up each time, every game looks different. A good exercise for residents, students and anyone who follows West Coast news. Knowing the Bay Area, the Central Valley and the deserts of the southeast helps you place a county in seconds.
